Join the Red River community this Memorial Day Weekend, May 21–25, 2026, as we gather in the heart of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to honor, reflect, and show our deep gratitude to the fallen heroes who gave everything for our freedoms.
Throughout the weekend, visitors and locals alike are invited to pay their respects at the Wall of Honor, beautifully displayed in the Visitor & Conference Center. It is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by our service members.
Community Gathering in Brandenburg Park Between moments of tribute, Brandenburg Park will serve as a central hub for community connection. Food vendors will be set up daily, offering a perfect spot to gather with family and friends. The park will also host the highly anticipated Patch & Challenge Coin Swap, as well as free Veteran Services booths designed to support and connect our veterans.
A Tradition of Respect: Flag Retiring Ceremony On Sunday evening, May 24th, we invite everyone to a special Flag Retiring Ceremony led by the Cerro VFW Post 9516. This deeply moving tradition ensures that retired flags are treated with the utmost dignity. Additionally, you have the opportunity to dedicate a remembrance flag to a loved one (please ensure dedications are submitted by Saturday, May 23rd).
Whether you are attending the ceremonies, participating in the patch swap, or simply taking a quiet moment of reflection in the crisp mountain air, Red River offers a meaningful setting to remember and honor.
For the complete schedule of events and to submit a flag dedication, please visit our official events page or stop by the Visitor Center.
